#colourmemarch at Cheltenham Festival
I was very excited today after receiving a phone call from EtailPR asking me to write a post all about what I would wear to Cheltenham Festival next week, particularly on Ladies Day, for the Colour Me March Campaign.
Colour Me March is all about wearing colours to the races, which I think is a fantastic idea, especially in the dull march weather! Straight away I was thinking what I would wear; a dress, a co-ord, a suit perhaps? Then my Mum said a very good point 'you'd be freezing wearing that!!', then my mind clicked....MARCH? It's still winter! In fact just yesterday it was trying to snow where I live.
With weather thoughts in my mind here is what I came up with....
I love the bright blue in the Lipsy Dress and how much is stands out against the pastel pinks. baby blues and white. This dress is classy but stylish, a perfect mix for the races!
Using those three colours I themed the rest of my outfit to match. First up my blue collarless coat in a baby blue to bring out the undertones of blue below the bold floral top pattern on the dress.
With winter in mind a pair of leather baby blue gloves to match the coat will add warmth, and sophistication to your outfit. They will even still look fabulous with your dress when you take your coat off! Now, you've probably noticed I've not gone for the typical dramatic hat or fascinator, but with winter winds blowing around you don't want to be chasing after feathers and mesh, do you? A snug white fur headband is the perfect accessory for your head wear (and it keeps you lovely and warm).
Now your two main accessories: shoes and bag. Now you will have to walk on lovely grass at least once during your day out, and how likes mud coated stilettos? Not me! A pair of white chunky heeled platforms are easy to walk in, give you that boost of height but will not sink in grass and mud. (a couple of baby wipes in your bag may be a good shout to wipe off any mud you do get on the white!)
No point taking a small bag for the day, you can't fit your must-have make up top ups, purse, phone, camera and even a pair of flats in a clutch. This off-white pink tinted grab bag is the perfect size to fit all you need in without taking Mary Poppins' carpet bag.

Boxing Day Sale: New Look Haul
I'm not a big sale shopper fan in all honesty, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to hunting through the unorganised chaos called clothing racks.
But this year I went into my local town centre, for no more than 2 hours. In fact I think I only went into 4 shops, 2 of those I stayed in for a couple of moments only! It was incredibly busy but I managed to bag myself some excellent bargains, all from New Look.

Ellie Goes To Peru!
Many of those who know me or follow me on my social media accounts will know that I have luckily been selected to volunteer in Peru for 12 months beginning August 2015. Now I'm not gonna bore you about all the details what I really wanted to do is talk about Peru's culture.
Peru is a beautiful country home to the source of the Amazon River, Machu Pichu and the Andes. My main interest within Peru is it's artistic traditions of elaborate pottery, jewelry, sculptures and, my favourite, textiles. Weaving has been part of the Peruvian culture for thousands of years. Weaving is often used for more decorative purposes now-a-days however the Incan people of Peru use the weavings as a way to pass on knowledge and skill.
Alpacas, which are the domesticated species of South American camelids, are known for their rich fibre which is used to make knitted and woven items similar to sheep's wool. These items make a wide variety of garments such as; hats, jumpers, gloves, scarves etc. However this wool wasn't just used for garments to keep warm. The fibres were dyed and woven into specific patterns that represented the families and regions where they were made. It was also a way of showing the nobility's wealth.
But what were these patterns of?
As the people of Peru lived in harmony with nature then many of the images in their designs reflect nature. Popular designs like flowers, stars, the sun and river can still be seen in more modern woven works today.

Now look these STUNNING Mario Testino bags, how vibrant are those colours? Beautiful, right? now you can see in these printed totes and clutch the intricate patterns within Peruvian clothing. The images you can see are photography from Testino's recent Alta Moda exhibition that depicted life in native Peru. Teamed together with exciting pom-pom tassels and trims the images work fantastic in showing traditional Peruvian textiles in a modern and western way.

Bargain Bags!
Flicking through the newest edition of Vogue I'm spotting bag after bag that I adore but on I flick wishing to see a price tag that doesn't make my purse whine in pain! This got me thinking, what if I can find an identical bag, or at least a very similar style, for a lot less money? So I got hunting and thought I'd share with you.
First off is the Black Chloe Clutch for Lulu Guinness, this one has to be the hardest bag to find one similar to. The bag is genuinely very unique, being made from black Perspex and being topped with a red lipstick clasp the square shaped clutch is priced £245. I decided it was more the shape of the bag that I loved most about it - I think the finger marks all over the Perspex would drive me crazy! Which led me to find the Black Quilted Square Clutch from New Look. At a price of £22.99 (and minus my student discount) this is a much nicer option and just like the Chloe Clutch you get a gold chain for an option across-the-body look.
Next up, is a Jimmy Choo beauty. Rebel is a Black Grainy Calf Leather Cross Body Bag, an absolute stunner. The bag is small but big enough for a nip around the shops or a night out, you only need your cards and a lippy, right? With a clasp embossed with Jimmy Choo everyone will know that this bag is worn by a classy lady especially as it costs a shocking £595! Already finding yourself in love with Rebel? Don't worry my ASOS find will save your pennies. The Cross Body Bag with Snake Embossed Lock is of a similar size to the Jimmy Choo bag and even comes with a mini inner compartment giving you even more for your money; at a price of £20 it's a complete must-have!
As you can see spending, what I class as, ridiculous amounts of money on your bags is not a necessity with a little shop around online you can find nearly identical items for a lot less money within minutes.

We've had a clutch and an across-the-body so it's only right my final find is a tote; a Hugo Boss one at that. Here we have the Handbag 'Maika-F' in leather , also available in dark red and brown, the elegant bag straight away shows class and sophistication and with it's detachable strap option it makes the bag 'highly convenient'; however the price is not highly convenient to many of us unless you have £450 to splash out. If not, head down to your local Monsoon's Accessorize and grab your hands on the Melissa Winged Handheld Bag for £32 instead. This bag also has a optional over-the-body strap but also has a side compartment to store items needing more easy access too.
As you can see spending, what I class as, ridiculous amounts of money on your bags is not a necessity with a little shop around online you can find nearly identical items for a lot less money within minutes.

Help I'm going to a Festival!
After going to two festivals (Download and V Festival) this year I felt that I should really do a 'festival must haves' post; after all I think I have a pretty good idea now!
Festivals are difficult as you can either queue at 5am for a disgusting 'shower' or so what most do and rough it. That's right ladies, no showering for 3-5 days! I'm going to focus on two parts of 'roughing it'; how to keep clean and how to look great.
Lets start with keeping clean.
First stop hair: Dry Shampoo, you cannot forget to bring dry shampoo, you will need the biggest can you can buy. It gets rid of the greasiness of your hair and also adds a little volume to it as well to stop your hair going horribly flat.
Hair Bobbles and Clips, you see festival photos of people having lovely long flowing locks, on the first day yes but by the Sunday everyone's hair is a ball of knots. By taking bobbles and clips you can style your hair into various braids and plaits creating beautiful hairstyles.
Body: Wet wipes, these will be your equivalent of a shower for the weekend. Honestly they make you feel so much nicer than just feeling dirty and smelly, not as nice as a shower though I'm afraid. (Also girls, don't bother taking razors or hair removal items, all of you will have hairy legs and arm pits!)
Tissues and hand sanitisers, the toilets are never great but I must say Download had the Khazi Kings this year cleaning the portaloos and refilling them with tissue, V fest wasn't that great though. Half rolls of toilet paper or packs of tissues have to be in your bags at all times and hand sanitiser to keep your hands clean after too.
Lip Balm I forgot my lip balm for V Festival and my lips now feel horribly chapped and unloved.
Don't worry too much about how grotty you feel....and look! I found the lack of sleep I got didn't help either but the oxygen bar at the Bubble Lounge clears your head quickly as Nemo and I found out at download!
Now lets try to look great!
Rain coats I saw so so so many beautiful rain coats this year, not just plain old black pack-a-macs for once! A lot of shops are doing really cool see-through ones so everyone can still see your outfit underneath which are fantastic. However I'm more of a floral fan when it comes to rain coats so I treated myself to a little beauty from Topshop this year.
Shorts Now, shorts are great but ladies no body wants to see your underwear too! Make sure your shorts actually cover up your bum cheeks otherwise you'll be FREEZING later on in the night, remember that festivals go on til night time.
The crop Crops are a festival fave this year, with so many varieties of them too it's super easy to find a cute crop to rock the look.
Boots The good old wellingtons are a classic fave at festivals however when theres not much rain boots are also a big hit. I didn't get my wellies out at either festival this year. I wore my tattered old Dr Martens boots which were a lot more comfy than wellies and I could dance around a lot easier in them too! Don't forget the long socks to match them too.
Bags Carrying your stuff is a pain and no one is a fan of the backpack when the person in front of you is wearing one. Bum Bags/Fanny Packs (whatever you prefer to call them) are great, they can fit all the things you need and no one can easily steal the contents from you. You can dance around like crazy without them falling off and getting in the way. You can pick them up from so many high street shops, my own is from Primark but you can pick them up from Urban Outfitters too.
Neon Face Paint No matter what age or gender you are neon face paint is always a hit at festivals whether its little flowers or dots under your eyes you'll look fab. Just be careful not to smudge it all over your face, do it before going into the arena area so it dries!
Flower crown Flower crowns are so easy to pick up in summer with shops like Primark selling a variety in colours for around a £1! I do recommend getting one before you go to the festival because they are £5 or more there.
And that's it! Theres probably a whole ton of other things you could also bring with you but these are definitely my must haves this year.

Urban Outfitters Ring Set
In my ring set you get 8 rings in total (very good for only £14!) mine vary in widths, colours and designs but they also do 3 other ring packs in all silver or all gold colourings.
The rings I am modelling here are: two identical bronze coloured plain rings that are incredibly dainty and look effective when placed beside each other; an octagonal silver coloured ring just the right size to fit my pinky; a big chunky gold coloured ring and a dainty plain gold coloured ring that I like to place above the silver pointed ring.
The remaining rings I have in my pack are a gold coloured textured ring and a silver coloured crossed ring (you can see these on the first image on my holder). The other rings on my holder are my favourite stacker rings from Peculiar Forest - you should check Lou out here!
Overall, I absolutely love my ring pack and my holder, it gives me so much choice and the ability to mix and match rings too
